Prompto loses a game of rock-paper-scissors to Gladio and Ignis to wake up their spoiled brat of a prince. It's almost noon, and Noctis hasn't stirred for the smell of Ignis' food or Gladio's manhandling. Gladio dragged him halfway out of the tent before Noctis just rolled back into his pile of blankets.

It's a thankless job, but Prompto has one advantage over the other two in his arsenal of waking up Noctis. At the beginning of the trip, Prompto was pretty hesitant to use it at all, but the one time he managed to wake up Noctis without Gladio and Ignis seeing what he did, they tended to try to push wake up duties on him.

To be honest, he couldn't really use this technique every morning, not with the others in earshot, but luckily sometimes Noctis actually woke up on his own. “Hey, buddy, time to wake up,” Prompto tries, hoping that perhaps Noctis got enough sleep.

All he gets in response is a grunt. Prompto sighs before glancing outside the tent, to double check Gladio and Ignis are still packing up the Regalia. With that confirmation, he zips up the tent then gives Noctis a little shove.

“You're a spoiled little shit, and I'm going demand something for this someday,” he tells the sleeping prince as he pulls back the covers.

They've been secretly together for over a year now, and a while back, long before the road trip or the wedding announcement, Noctis told Prompto he didn't mind being touched while asleep. Prompto had been confused, but Noctis confessed he doesn't want Prompto to feel bad if he falls asleep during their activities. It was a long, awkward conversation, but Prompto learned a few new things about Noctis in the process.

Along with the fact that while, yes, sometimes the prince fell asleep after he's orgasmed during sex, if he's already asleep, an orgasm is a pretty surefire way to wake him up. With quite a bit of experimentation, Prompto found it totally true and kind of a turn on.

Noctis grins. “Good thing you come quick after blowing me, huh?” he says cheekily, and Prompto just groans as Noctis takes his hard length into his mouth in one swift motion.

Prompto hates that Noctis isn't wrong; it doesn't take him long come. It's actually an embarrassingly short amount of time, but time's against them, so Prompto can't bring himself to care, sighing in contentment as Noctis pulls off. And spits into a wad of tissues.

Prompto just make another groan of protest at Noctis' decision as they get themselves dressed and back together. “Are you two done in there? Iggy made lunch, and it's going to put me off it if you two are still going at it!” Gladio shouts from outside the tent.

Both boys freeze, eyes wide as they stare at each other; Ignis sighs quite loudly outside the tent. “Gladio, I remember a promise not to make this awkward for them?” he chastises.

“Yeah, that was before the greedy little prince wouldn't wake up any other way. He's getting spoiled,” Gladio replies grumpily.

Prompto hides his face in his hands then shouts, “okay, we're done, and we're not talking about this!”

Noctis' mortification seems to have passed as they crawl out of the tent, because once they're out, he walks over to the trash bin set up by the cooking supplies and drops the dirty wad of tissues inside. As he's making eye contact with Gladio, smugly.

“I don't know him,” Prompto proclaims to Ignis as he reaches for a bowl of green soup curry. “I've never met that man in my life. Keep him away from me.”

Ignis keeps a straight face as Gladio and Noctis get into a shouting match about disgusting habits that devolve in insulting varying levels of prowess they may or may not have. “I do believe he's Gladio's problem for now,” he offers as consolation, taking his own bowl of soup to sit far away from the prince and his shield.

Prompto follows, and they have a nice chat about Ignis' plans for dinner and photos Prompto had taken the day before. They ignore any scuffling or breaking sounds happening on the other side of camp, and it's a pretty peaceful lunch, by their standards.

“Never mind. Are we ready to set out?”

“Yep.” Prompto finishes throwing his gear into the trunk and joins them, one arm curled close to his chest to support Noctis’ back legs. The cat has his eyes slitted open, and when they catch the light they’re a startlingly clear blue. “You want him, Gladio?”

Gladio shakes his head. “Just throw him in the back seat, will you?”

None of them are sure how much intelligence Noctis has retained within his new form. When he first woke up back at camp, he dug through their sparse baggage until he found one of Ignis’ dirty cotton button-downs, and proceeded to drag it into the Regalia’s back seat to form a kind of nest. Any attempt to reclaim it has resulted in a flurry of hisses and scratches.

Ardyn’s eyes gleamed bright with international goodwill and unquestionable malice. “A small price, Your Majesty. A small price.”

It was like pulling teeth to slip away from his friends, but Noct managed in the end. Gladio in particular was unhappy with the idea. Why treaty with the man who helped arrange the destruction of Insomnia? But in the end, he was overruled. He did say that if Noct wasn’t back in an hour, he, Ignis, and Prompto would break in and kill Ardyn themselves, agreement or no. Noct forced an easy smile and waved him off, stepping into the hotel where Ardyn was waiting.

He’d barely shut the door when he was gripped by the collar and thrown, without ceremony, onto the hotel floor.

Winded, he struggled to rise, instinctively reaching into his magic for a weapon, but Ardyn’s booted foot appeared out of nowhere, pressing him down on his back. He looked up at the man standing over him and shivered in a rush of fear and a strange thrill of desire.

“So glad you could join me,” Ardyn said, in that same, easy voice. He twisted his foot on Noct’s chest, and the prince gasped for air. “Oh. Was I… Is that uncomfortable?”

“Fuck you,” Noct ground out, and received a chuckle for his efforts. Ardyn lifted his foot, but set it down again when Noct tried to rise.

“No,” he said, in a thoughtful tone. “I think you need to know your place, Your Majesty.” His eyes crinkled with humor. “No higher than your knees unless I tell you.”

“Hell no,” Noct said. “Let them find out, I’m not playing this g—“

“Tsk, tsk.” Ardyn leaned down, still smiling faintly, and gripped Noct's face in one hand. Noct gasped, and Ardyn said, in a lower voice, “On your knees, Your Majesty.”

The foot raised again. Slowly, breathing heavily, Noct rose to his knees. “Strip, please. Whoever picked out your outfit had terrible taste.”

Disrobing on his knees was awkward, but Noct managed it, glaring daggers at Ardyn all the while. The chancellor only smiled benevolently, leaning against the wall, fully clothed. When Noct was done, Ardyn stepped towards him, looking down at him with his face masked in shadow.

“Get this over with,” Noct said.

“So eager.” Ardyn crouched down on his toes. “What have I done to deserve you?”

Noct said nothing to that, and Ardyn didn’t seem to care. He gripped Noct’s hair in tight fingers and pulled him into a kiss, all tongue and teeth and cut-off breath. Noct didn’t kiss back, only opened his mouth for him, unresisting.

“Yes, I think I’ll keep you around,” Ardyn said. “On the bed, Your Majesty.”

Noct twitched. Violently. He'd forgotten that Ardyn Izunia was in town discussing border control issues with the Council. "You're late," he said, glaring up at Ardyn. Why the fuck was everyone in the world taller than him? Emperor Aldercapt was taller than him, and he was a billion years old.

"My most sincere apologies," Ardyn said, in the same tone of voice he used when claiming that those soldiers had been on the Niff side of the border, and thus outside the jurisdiction of Lucis, in council sessions with his father. "Let me make it up to you, dearest."

And that was how Noct found himself getting kissed within an inch of his life while cameraphones flashed around him and there was the distant sound of glass breaking as if someone had dropped their mug on the floor. He hoped Prompto was happy, because Noct was never ever leaving the palace again.
