Prompto is Noct's Whipping Boy (old tradition where someone else is officially chosen to bear the physical punishments the prince is supposed to get) and Noct has secretly befriended him after years of constantly sneaking off afterwards to apologize and make sure he's ok.

It’s no secret how much Noctis loves his friends. He has vowed to stand by them, to support them the same way they have vowed to stand by him and support him. He would die for them, if that time ever came.

All of this, however, goes straight out the proverbial window when he walks in on Ignis wearing nothing but a kitchen apron and attempting to cover himself in whipped cream.

“What the actual fuck Iggy,” Noctis says. And then—

“That is a waste of whipped cream.”

“Quite,” Ignis agrees, grimacing a little at the strange sensation on his skin but continues to lather it on regardless. Noctis wonders why he doesn’t look the least bit embarrassed about it.

(Ignis has already moved far past embarrassment and into desperation—he’s been at that stage for at least four months. Gladio can’t stop laughing. Noctis is suffering.)

He also has a feeling he knows exactly why Ignis is trying to make himself look like he stepped straight out of a really bad food porno but he feels obligated to confirm his theory.

“You trying to seduce Prompto with that get-up?” he asks.

“That’s the gist of it,” answers Ignis.

Noctis closes his eyes, partially in hopes it will help him somehow summon Bahamut or Titan or even Eos to give him the strength to survive this ordeal and partially to prevent himself from having to see anymore of Ignis than he needed to because sure, Ignis was damn attractive but he was also one hundred percent positive that he did not like Ignis in that way.

“Gladio put you up to this, didn’t he?” Noctis asks, half-pained and half-resigned.

“He suggested it yes,” Ignis admits, either not paying attention to Noctis’ steadfastness refusal to open his eyes or too busy working the whipped cream still. “And considering the success rate of this…maneuver, I had deduced that it would be worth my time.”

“The success rate,” Noctis faintly repeats. “I didn’t know they reported success rates on these…maneuvers.”

“Gladio insisted the data he used to determine his success rates were reliable.”

Noctis is half-tempted to ask what kind of stories Gladio’s been telling Ignis to make their tactician believe him but he would also like to prevent any more mental scarring for today, thank you very much.

So instead, Noctis—eyes still firmly closed—steps backward out the room. “I’ll be sure to tell Prompto to stay back in the hotel for dinner. Gladio and I will just. Go out. Somewhere.”

(Noctis’ only thought as he slams the hotel door shut and speeds down the hallway like Imperial Chancellor Izunia’s on his heels, is that he hopes room service doesn’t charge them extra if they get whipped cream in the carpet.)



“Kill me,” Noctis whispers two days later as he witnesses Ignis’ third attempt at trying to (subtly) pin Prompto against the makeshift table while teaching Prompto how to prepare tonight’s dinner.

“And let you miss all the fun?” Gladio grins, patting Noctis on the shoulder. “I think not.”

“Why can’t Specs just come out and confess already?” Noctis asks, the pain so evident in his voice it’s like he’s suffering from a physical wound.

“Our Iggy, surprisingly, has a rather fragile heart.”

Noctis looks over at Gladio, incredulous. “But enough balls to try and seduce someone in nothing but a goddamn apron and whipped cream?”

Gladio shrugs. “Desperate times call for desperate measures.”

Noctis groans and buries his face in his hands. “Make him stop.”

“Well, if my suggestion pans out, Iggy just might.”

Noctis looks suspiciously at him. “What did you tell him to do?”

Gladio gives him a look. “You really wanna know?”

Noctis quickly decides that no, he really doesn’t.



The next morning the skies are clear, the temperature mild and Noctis got to sleep in until ten a.m. today. He decides that today will be a good day—and promptly changes his mind ten minutes later.

“Morning,” Prompto cheerfully greets him, arms full of collapsible chairs and his camera around his neck.

“Morning,” Noctis mumbles back, yawning a little as he takes the chairs and puts them in the trunk. “You and Ignis enjoy yourselves last night?”

He freezes when he realizes the implications of his words but Prompto is happily laughing, utterly oblivious.

“Yea, it was super cool! Ignis let me touch all his kitchen appliances and use them while we cooked. Burned myself by accident while trying to turn the grill on and Ignis wouldn’t stop fussing over it for half an hour and he was still fussing over it when we went to sleep last night in the tent like he was physically trying to cuddle me even though I told him I was already feeling better and it wasn’t necessary and—Noct? You okay there, buddy?”

No, Noctis wants to say he remains crouched in a fetal position on the ground. No I am not okay because Ignis has been trying to get into your pants since last decade but you still think he’s just being friendly.

“I need a nap,” he groans out instead and goes to crawl into the backseat.

Gladio, already seated in shotgun, tries very hard not to laugh as he consolingly pats Ignis on the shoulder while Ignis attempts to merge his forehead with the wheel.

“A hundred year nap,” Noctis amends under his breath as Prompto clambers in after him, still asking if he’s okay.

Whether the story ends happily with Ardyn eventually being saved by Noctis or badly with non con elements and dark!Noctis is completely up to the author!

What if Prompto looks like an exact replica of Ardyns past lover? Prompto has no memories of his past life or anything (it could be that he actually is a reincarnation or just happens to look like him) so it's really just Ardyn whose holding on to their past relationship.

Prompto is actually in love with the prince and has no interest in Ardyn. But Ardyn won't take no for an answer and believes Prompto just needs to be reminded of the love they shared. Ardyn gets more forward, obsessive and possessive as time goes on and with every rejection from Prompto (harassment, noncon, etc). Noctis and the other bros don't take kindly to Ardyn either and his possessiveness/obsession with Prompto. I would love to see protective Noctis (eventual Noctis/Prompto) and the rest of the guys.

Whether this follows the actual game plot or is an AU where Lucis doesn't fall is up to the filler.

Oh boyyyeee this is going to be a long one, I can tell.

At first, Noctis didn’t understand why his father didn’t love him anymore. He remembered bits and pieces from before the attack—large hands in his hair, the warmth of an embrace, a soft chuckle that didn’t sound anything like the way his father laughed now. It was like all that warmth had drained out of him during Noct’s long time in sleep, and Noct didn’t have the language to call it back.

The truth took a little while to figure out. He hadn’t been strong enough. He’d let the monster strike him, let sleep take him. He hadn’t recovered fast enough from his injuries, had spent so long in his wheelchair when he could have been catching up. Worst of all, when Noct woke up, he didn’t even remember his father’s name. He kept calling him Regis, when everyone knew that Noct’s father was Ardyn. Ardyn Izunia, chancellor of Niflheim.

If he’d been as strong as his father, he wouldn’t have placed such a burden on him, and his father wouldn’t have had to use up all that love just to keep him alive.

If he became strong enough, Noct reasoned, he would be able to get some of his old father back.

The officers who worked in the fortress Noct and Ardyn called home started to call Noct “the little shadow.” He trailed behind Ardyn at all times, a silent presence at his heels. He watched him from the corner of the room at meetings, carefully hid his vegetables during meals, and curled up on benches while he sparred with human soldiers and MT units in the training yard. By the end of the day, he would usually be asleep on his feet, stumbling several yards behind his father as they made their way to their rooms. There, he would take a bath, brush his teeth, and stare at the mirror, trying to recreate the face his dad used to wear when he was happy. He would narrow his eyes, like this, and his hair was soft on the sides, like this, and his mouth tilted just a little at an angle…

If he timed it right, he could force himself awake several hours before his father. When he finally woke at the right hour, he got up, tiptoed around his father’s bed, and sidled out the door. The MT patrols scared him at first, but he had the metal wristband that told them he wasn’t an enemy, and he held it up between himself and their jerking, shuddering bodies as he passed. Then he made his way to the training yard.

Okay, he thought. Start small. What did the human trainees do? Lie on their stomachs, like this, and push their hands out, like this, and lift up…

He was a little more tired than usual, after he started this nightly ritual, and his arms and legs were always sore, but at least he was trying.

After a week of this, he fell asleep at dinner. He jerked awake immediately, heart tight with panic that his father had noticed, and looked up at Ardyn at his side. His father was looking at him, eyebrows raised.

“I’m sorry,” Noct said, softly.

His father smiled, but it wasn’t the smile that Noct practiced in the mirror every night. It was different, tilted at both corners, strange in its unfamiliarity.

“You know,” his father said, in a low voice. “If you didn’t get up to exercise in the middle of the night, you might be able to stay awake through the afternoon.”

Noct felt himself start to shake. He tried to hold it in, biting his lip until it hurt. “Are you mad?” he asked.

His father opened his mouth slightly, closed it, and looked away. “No, Noctis. I don’t believe so.” There was a long silence, long enough that Noct started to squirm, and Ardyn said, “If you don’t mind waking up at dawn, I can teach you how to fight the way I do.”

Noct grinned wide, and his father’s answering laugh was so warm that he carried it with him all day.

“Well, it should theoretically work you’re just so overzealous.” Cor, because that was annoying, thrust forward and smacked Ardyn’s head onto the door of his car again. Just to make him yelp. Which he did. “Marshal!”

“I’m sorry, did you bang your head?” He did it again, and Ardyn had his lower lip stuck out pugnaciously. He didn’t look pleased. “Maybe if you weren’t so tall, we wouldn’t be having this problem.”

“Do you want to get off, Marshal, or do you want to shit-talk?” Ardyn’s cock was probably harder now than Cor’s was, getting soft by the absolute ridiculous bullshit of their present situation as they tried to fuck in the car (and failed), and Cor grunted, leaned forward because he would not lose to let the other man make the point, and opened the door to the car.

Ardyn slid backward to land with his head hanging off of the back seat, and in revenge, kicked Cor in the thigh. Cor gave as good as he got, and shoved the other man’s hips down at just the right angle that he fucked, hard, up into Ardyn’s prostate on his next thrust. He yelped again. It was a good sound. “Getting soft, Marshal?” the other man chided, and Cor sighed, bent double to grab Ardyn’s boxers from where they’d gotten tossed onto the floor of the car, balled them up, and shoved them into his mouth to muffle him.

His flush got angrier, and his eyes were furious, but he didn’t bother to take it out. It was only afterward that Ardyn asked, bent double to stretch out the absolute murder Cor had done to his back, that he said, “I’m at least a twenty-gil whore, Cor. Be sensible, really.”

If they hadn’t been in Ardyn’s car, Cor would have driven off and left him for no other reason than that Ardyn was insufferable and dumping him in the middle of an empty field with his pants off was the least that Cor could do.
