FILL: In a Sea of Fog, Gladio/Noctis 2/?
Date: 2016-12-18 08:09 pm (UTC)More and more demons surround the Heaven as the night goes on, and not just the thin ones carrying a moon-like scythe in their tails. Trios of tall, humanoid creatures wearing silk kimonos start dancing around them, looking less eager than the little goblins, but exponentially more terrifying.
"How many do you guess the barrier can keep out?"
"Let's pray we don't find out," says Jack. He's found a handful of wooden sticks that he fancies are good enough for a fire.
"Do you have a match?"
Jack pauses his inspection of the wood fragment. "Probably," he says, checking his back pockets, drawing attention to legs that seem to an ass that's as muscular as the rest of him.
Which is probably not something he should be noticing, but. . . well. He sighs and steps closer as Jack produces a silver lighter with a satisfied smirk.
"Who goes out to the wilderness without so much a lighter?"
He doesn't check his own pockets and shrugs.
Jack gets a the fire going, but it lasts less than an hour. A full moon hangs over them, providing a modicum of light but doing little to help them against the cold. He's grateful when Jack throws one of those massive arms around him, mumbling something about hypothermia, and burrows closer to the man's chest. The cold at this back makes him appreciate Jack's heat all the more, and he manages to fall asleep despite feeling a pack of hounds at his tail.
"Wake up, sunshine!" Jack's voice pierces through the fog in his mind, only to be overtaken by a wave of bone-deep exhaustion. "Come on. There's no telling how much light we have."
It doesn't feel like they have much. Certainly not enough to tempt him or annoy him into opening his eyes. He has no choice but to do so when Jack starts shaking him, and sees only thick, grey clouds above him. If there's any light at all, it's a miracle that it's strong enough to drive off the demons. One of the clouds drops a tiny snowflake that hits the tip of his nose, making him frown.
"Even a little snow's enough to make me suspect we're close to Tenebrae," says Jack. "Maybe Nifelheim, even."
A chilly wind passes over the Heaven as he struggles to a seated position, rubbing his eyes. He doesn't have a headache, exactly; just a kind of. . . thickness over his eyes.
"Why the hell aren't we wearing jackets?" he asks, staring off into the distance. A couple of inches of fluffy-white snow cover the tundra-like region. There's not a road in sight.
"I don't know," says Jack. "But it's gonna fuck us up if we're too far away from an outpost. And with no road in sight, I'm not even sure which direction we should be going."
"Maybe we should stay here. Someone might be looking for us."
"No, that's practically suicide," says Jack. "At the very, very least, we need to find a water source, firewood, and kill something for food. If we find a road while we're at it, all the better. An outpost, and we're golden."
They have no weapons, so killing something is going to be an interesting challenge.
"What if someone comes by looking and assumes we're not here?" Without the barrier, they might not make it to sundown.
"If someone is looking for us," says Jack, "then they'll know to track. I'll go off on my own if you're scared, but I can't guarantee I'll get back here before you start feeling the dehydration."
"No." He stands up, more quickly than he would have thought himself capable of. "I'll go with you."
He's scared of going, he realizes, but nowhere near as scared as he is of finding himself alone.
Re: Not The OP Here!
Date: 2016-12-20 05:23 am (UTC)Final Fantasy 15 has been translated into various languages, so I could be wrong about this, but Safe Heaven = Safe Haven. Cor, Ignis, and Prompto are missing-in-action. Gladiolus and Noctis can cope without them, but it sure is looking like it’s going to be a cold and dreary trek.
