Date: 2017-02-16 05:44 am (UTC)I'd just like to see Noctis seducing omegas of both genders when he starts exploring his sexuality. He eventually learns a lot about pleasing people of his same dynamic and is very sneaky about it. He enjoys sex (something that isn't really encouraged for Omegas unless it's to please their partners) and is kind of unashamed about it once he's free of watchful eyes.
I guess I'm kind of looking for both smut and a little world building lol. I don't mind if Noct has an endgame pairing and it's one of the chocobros, but please make one of the other chocobros an omega!

Noctis never acts upon his feelings - at least, not in the vicinity of Gladio or Ignis. Not only are they in the service of the Crown, and thus employed by the King, they are also Noctis’ Daemon Weapons. He has heard horrible tales of Meisters being cruel or even abusive towards their Weapons, and while protecting Noctis may be Gladio and Ignis’ duty, their happiness and wellbeing are, in turn, Noctis’ responsibility. By seventeen, Noctis has come to call them his friends, and he would rather pine after them forever than risk harming or pushing them away.
Nyx is sympathetic to his plight in the way that Noctis imagines any sensible older sibling would be.
“Well you’re not old enough to drink yet,” they muse, lounged out across the sofa in their apartment as Noctis flicks a pair of throwing daggers at the wall, summoning each blade back to himself as it hits the target. They’re Nyx’s favourite pair, and while Noctis has known the Glaive for some years now, it still amuses him to think that Nyx both wields and is a set of daggers.
“How ‘bout we get takeout and watch a crappy movie?”
That sounds good to Noctis. “We’re getting kebabs.”
“We always get kebabs,” Nyx groans, shoving him with their foot. Noctis’ next dagger pings against the TV before disappearing behind the cabinet, but Nyx just rolls their eyes.
“And that is why I can never get any signal,” they sigh.
On the plus side of Noctis never being able to admit his feelings towards Gladio and Ignis because they’re his Weapons, they are his Weapons. Granted, they spend most of their days in their human forms, Gladio training with the Crownsguard or chest-deep in textbooks in the library, and Ignis attending council meetings, writing reports, cooking, or organising Noctis’ life for him, but when their schedules slot together, they are inseparable. While they can often be found out in the east grounds of the citadel, Noctis would hesitate to say that they train. Fighting is often involved, but wielding any old blade is incomparable to the feel of a Weapon in his hands. Gladio is still something of a challenge to manoeuvre - he really is more of a wall than a shield - but Ignis’ polearm form is a breeze.
They spar, Noctis wielding Ignis against Gladio’s thunderous blows and then ducking behind the Shield’s very literal defence when Ignis brandishes his daggers, but it’s not about who wins or loses. It’s about afterwards, when Gladio is flopped on the ground after fending off Ignis’ I-could-murder-the-councilmen assault, when Noctis is flattened underneath him after misjudging a warp with the shield and almost crashing them through a window, and when Ignis is seconds from collapsing but still fussing over them both, glasses askew and one of his gloves lost who-knows-where.
“You both okay?” Noctis wheezes, laughing when he tries and fails to shove his Shield from on top of him. “Gladio?”
“Fine,” Gladio grunts, exemplifying a giant, dumb cat chilling after a batting a toy mouse a few times. “Gonna take more than a few daggers to scratch me.”
“I felt you wince.”
“Yeah ‘cause you almost threw me through a window -”
“Hey, I tripped -”
“You winced, Gladio?” Ignis interrupts. He sounds a little breathless, and yet a simple readjustment of his glasses on the bridge of his nose seems to negative any exhaustion that he feels. He glides over and motions for the Shield to sit up, but Gladio just huffs at him.
“I’m fine, Iggy. No harm done. I just want a shower.”
“Like we don’t know that already,” Noctis mumbles, and Gladio rolls his sweaty, two-tonne body over him because he’s an arsehole, that’s why.
Ignis is right to show concern. No matter how indestructible a shield, lance, dagger, or blade may seem, Daemon Weapons are not invulnerable to harm. Human forms aside, which can bleed and break just as any other person can, Weapons can withstand damage beyond what would shatter their inanimate counterparts. This does not mean that they cannot be broken; Ignis could bend or snap given enough force, and Gladio can be chipped, scratched, cut, or worn over time.
He can be permanently injured too, as Noctis learns far beyond the walls of Insomnia, fishing rod propped against one shoulder and Gladio looming over the other. There’s a sharp breath and the swirl of Gladio shifting as the coeurl pounces; Noctis ducks, blue sparks of his armiger colliding with the amber light of Gladio’s shield, and the coeurl’s colossal body crashes against them. Black paint shreds under its claws. A snout of fangs and blood tear into the shield, vile saliva splattering Noctis’ face, and his yell resonates with Gladio’s as they shove the monster away, royal magic flaring as Noctis lunges with his sword.
The Crownsguard unit drive the coeurl away, the lakeside serenity tainted by gunfire and blood. Gladio refuses to transform back until they are safe within the citadel, so Noctis squashes himself into the back of the car with the shield thrown over him like a blanket. It is then that he notices the extent of the coeurl’s attack; the grazes and chipped paintwork will be no worse than scratches and bruises that Gladio has suffered before, but coeurl’s incisors have inflicted a gash that gapes open across the top of the shield.
Gladio is lucky not to lose his eye.
Ignis, in the calm yet terrible way that only Ignis can, flips his shit. The sight of Noctis and Gladio cowering in the infirmary must certainly be something, for when King Regis and Clarus arrive as stormclouds bring a hurricane, they linger almost awkwardly in the doorway, their concerned fury like a mild spring breeze up against Ignis’ tirade.
“I daresay you deserved that,” King Regis says after Ignis has worn himself out. Thoroughly chastised and quite the sight with gauze looped around his head, one eye temporarily beyond use as the stitches heal, Gladio says nothing from the bed, but Noctis mumbles his agreement. The nurses have no need to keep Gladio overnight, but maybe the infirmary will be the safest place for him while Ignis imitates the coeurl that almost blinded the Prince’s Shield by prowling the citadel halls.
“He’ll probably take a few days to cool down,” Noctis says - hopes.
“Optimistic of you,” Clarus deadpans, and the King laughs.
Noctis doesn’t. Gladio buries the visible half of his face into his hands.
Ignis does, eventually, forgive them. The conversation is typical Ignis-style again; while he does extract a promise that they will be more careful next time, he also endorses Gladio’s actions and offers an apology for his own behaviour. The freshly baked tart is unnecessary and yet gleefully accepted by Noctis, and though the whipped cream swirls are neat and professional in every way that Ignis is too, Noctis thinks he can read I’m sorry for blowing a fuse in front of the King in the dusting of sugar.
Gladio doesn’t receive an apology. The Shield concedes with a shrug, adding fair enough with a lopsided grin. This smile only widens when Ignis clicks his tongue and pulls out a brand new polishing kit from his bag, encouraging Gladio to transform - should you be able - so that something can be done about the damage to his shield form. The most prominent gash will only heal as Gladio’s human body does, but the rest are merely a matter of time, care, and no small about of elbow work.
As Gladio’s Meister, that responsibility should fall to Noctis.
“It’s no bother,” Ignis says, and Noctis shrugs before shoving another forkful of cake into his mouth. Gladio grumbles about lazy arse Princes and earns a stern glare from Ignis, but when his shield form is propped up against Noctis, slouched cross-legged on the floor, neither of them find any reason to complain.

Date: 2017-02-16 03:46 pm (UTC)Could be set during middle school where prompto is thinking about how much noctis will faun over him when he gets all "ripped" and not heavy after all his running.
Could be set during high school where prompto gets to spend hour with the prince, gets to take photos of the prince, gets to sleep over at the prince's apartment, gets to really see how far above him in status he is and see that he still wants to spend time with him, and jerks off to that.
Could be road trip prompto where he gets to sleep so close to Noctis that he can see every freckle and count every eyelash, and see how tempting he looks body laxx and mouth open.
I mean really, the possibilities are endless;))))))
Fill: Imperial!Prompto/Noctis "Come Around Sundown" 9/?
Date: 2017-02-16 04:32 pm (UTC)He knew what he had to do, and yet the weight pressing down on his shoulders had finally become almost too much to bear. Ignis and Gladio weren't here to stand beside him as they had been all his life. Prompto, torn away from him by Ardyn's tricks. Noctis had begun to depend on the boy, knowing him as a cursory flicker of light before the sun had set each night. He'd been a constant on this journey, having more than proved himself beyond initial doubt. Maybe Noctis wasn't great at showing it, but the privilege of having Prompto in his life was hardly measurable.
'A learning experience', Ignis had first said of the light-haired soldier. What was once the desire to conquer something that had not been handed to him on a silver platter had turned upside-down. That something had claimed him instead, and now a piece of the King lay locked inside the depths of a cold, mechanical hell, waiting to be retrieved.
Hopefully, anyway.
The King couldn't be sure of Prompto's fate, but he could be certain of what he needed to do. Alone.
Sliding the ring onto his finger had been excruciating. The rite of passage had ignited a spark behind his ribs, flames licking at bone and muscle. An extraordinary pain burst behind his eyes and reorganized the contents of his mind. Something clicked, and Noctis fell to his knees while he cried in anguish. Soon he would be connected; connected to the crystal, the catalyst. His body now a conductor of ancient power, the strength of the old wall surging through him and converging at the ring.
Even though the concrete floors and thick walls, he could hear all of Eos around him. All the Six's creation hummed beneath his skin, causing the little hairs on the back of his neck to stand. He sucked in a breath, and was calm. He wasn't alone.
Prompto woke slowly, taking his time to break free of his sleepy fog. Drawing breath caused him to ache, his fingers numb and unresponsive when he tried to move them, tingling with the loss of blood. Something warm trickled from the bridge of his nose, staining his dry lips an indecent black, coating them in foul taste. The wound stung, but it was bearable, he was more worried about his lack of mobility.
It didn't take long for the soldier to figure out that he'd been restrained. While he could move his head and neck, his arms outstretched and held slightly above his head (hence the loss of feeling) and he was pinned at the waist and ankles as well. What kind of sick contraption--?
He stopped himself from letting his thoughts dip anywhere further into the dark, and instead focus on what he did know. He was in a cell, his pack, his weapon, camera, and the transport case he'd stolen from the garrison were neatly stored on a small table on the northeast side of it, within sight, but not reach.
He couldn't remember how he'd gotten here, but he did remember leaving the medical ward.
Back at the garrison Ardyn had... changed his appearance? There was no denying that the Chancellor wasn't like other people, but Prompto's knowledge of magic extended only as far as what Noctis, Ignis, and Gladio had taught him about Lucian Kings, Oracles, and Astrals. Nowhere did they mention anyone with abilities quite like Ardyn, who seemed to slip through the seams of space and time.
Unless he was a daemon? A daemon unlike any other Prompto had seen before. Maybe he was what happened when the transfusions went right? It might have made sense... It was by Ardyn's guiding hand that Prompto's treatments advanced as far along as they had. It had been his father who wanted to abandon the project altogether once it was clear that the scourge wasn't taking to him, killing him instead.
But Ardyn had persisted and even went as far to suggest he, Prompto... be chosen as... Prince Noctis' envoy.
Realization hit Prompto like a crashing wave and he twisted in the restraints, throwing his head back in a vain attempt to broaden what he could see of the room he was in.
“This whole time!” He shrieked, black tarnishing his snarl.
“Indeed,” came the calm reply. “So glad for you to have pieced together the puzzle. This has been a fun little science project now, hasn't it? Let's debrief, soldier.”
Ardyn came from behind Prompto, footfalls echoing on the concrete floor as he made his way around to face him. Mirth filled his eyes, irises lit with a mangled amber. He grinned, teeth pearly and waiting. “The poor Bestithia boy, too frail to be a proper heir, suffering from an affliction too dire for even Nifelheim's finest doctors.”
“Stop it,” Prompto warned, fingers twitching as he willed some life back into his sore, sleeping muscles. He didn't want to hear his story spoken on Ardyn's foul tongue. The only one meant to tell it was himself, and soon he would get the hell out of here and tell it to Noctis, who deserved every detail.
Ardyn sighed, lifting his hands in a parody of surrender as he had done on the train, shaking his head slowly and with what looked like disappointment. “As you wish,” he acquiesced.
“...You want Noctis to find the crystal, don't you?” Prompto asked, his voice feeling small, even within the limited confines of the cell. He lift his head, his neck already feeling strained from the position he'd been forced into.
“I would rather show you than tell,” came the frustrating reply. “Why miss out on a good spectacle? Besides, this here...” Ardyn turned his palms up, spreading his fingers. “This is about you, for once. Let's pretend for a moment that all of Eos doesn't revolve around the great King of Kings.”
As he spoke, the Chancellor stepped forward until he was just inches away from Prompto. Had the boy his freedom, he would have taken a step back, but there was no getting away now. Prompto supposed that he could at least be grateful the contraption held him a foot or so off the ground, mercifully giving him the illusion of a height advantage.
“But that'd be impossible for you,” he continued. His voice was low, but gentle.
Ardyn slid his fingers beneath Prompto's chin, tipping his chin up and forcing eye contact. His touch was sickeningly careful. He handled the soldier as if he'd been made of glass-- still the frail boy bound to his bed. It was only when Prompto's vision narrowed and he licked his blackened lips, catching the sludge from his wound on his tongue. A disgusting noise followed as he inhaled the thick liquid, only to spit it back into the Chancellor's unshaven face.
He started to laugh, even when Ardyn wiped the offending filth off with his fingers and gripped Prompto's jaw again. His heart was hammering in his chest, spine arching off the cool metal at his back. A rush of adrenaline brought that feral creature out of hibernation once again. The stench of the scourge invaded his senses and burned down his throat. It felt... good.
The soldier should have been scared of the lack of reaction, but instead he was spurred to do more. For a fleeting moment they locked eyes and Prompto panted heavily, anticipating. The Chancellor's lips pulled back to a grin. He reaffirmed his grip on Prompto's chin and slowly, deliberately smeared his soiled fingers over the blond's otherwise fair skin, blotting out the splashes of freckles with black.
“You're his new favourite pet, hmm?”
The chancellor had worked to keep his fury veiled, but no amount of disrespect would go unpunished and he found delight in the cry of pain that escaped Prompto as he pressed his thumb to the cut on his face, digging into the wound and letting the blood flow freely, suffocating Prompto for all he cared right now. If he fell asleep, he couldn't spit-- the vile little beast.
“'Mm not,” Prompto gasped, shaking his head as much as Ardyn's grip would allow. He felt... far away, like he'd forgotten where he was, as if the warm dark had finally taken him. Prompto let his eyelids flutter shut while he rode out fresh waves of pain, not all of them radiated from the wound. His voice muffled now as Adryn's thumb swiped across his bottom lip.
“Not what? Good enough?”
Prompto frowned at the sound of a familiar voice. Though his eyes were still shut, Ardyn's grip had loosened enough that he could drop his head forward slightly.
“I never said that--”
“But you're thinking it.”
Prompto opened his eyes, and the cell was gone. He'd been swallowed by the dark, a black starless night cradled him in her arms. Before him, the only source of light-- of anything really. Noctis. The King. The Sun.
“...So, you're a mind-reader now?” Prompto's brow quirked up in question. Noctis laughed. Prompto laughed, too.
“No,” he admitted with that same casual shrug he'd always punctuated his responses with. “But I can see it. You have these... tells.”
“Tells? C'mon, Noct.”
The King took Prompto's face in his hands, and the soldier met him halfway.
“You always... hang around after everyone's gone to bed,” Noctis accused playfully, lips brushing against Prompto's but refusing to give him what he wanted, to let him touch, to feel, to be consumed. “You're more comfortable in the dark, I think. It's the only time you'll ever really talk to me.”
“You're the one always... lingering. Coming around after you're sure the sun's gone down. Why don't you go to bed like the others, huh?”
“Because then I wouldn't have gotten to know you.”
“Oh.”
Noctis finally pressed their lips together and it ached. Prompto kissed him with yearning, an insatiable craving burning deep inside of him. He'd thought that he'd wanted the King to envelop him, burn him up in his light, but the more they touched the more Prompto craved. He wanted to be the carnivore, the hunter.
“Prompto. Thank th--”
Noctis recoiled, pulling his hand away as if he'd been burned. The chair swivelled around to reveal a lifeless MT. The unfinished skeleton clattered to the floor in a heap, and Noctis began to lose heart.
“Isn't it fitting?” Ardyn's gleeful voice crackled into existence. “An unfinished product, just like your dear Prompto.”
“Your father was a fool to not see the potential,” Ardyn remarked, even if the boy couldn't hear him. "Then again. He knew so little; most humans do." The chancellor watched Prompto's ailing body writhe against the restraints as he rode through another fit, eyes rolling back as his skull hit metal with a resounding crack. He was all corded muscle and twisting limbs, wrestling with whatever unholy magic Ardyn had used to awaken what sat dormant in the soldier's blood. “So quick to give up on you as soon as you turned for the worse. How cruel... He left you neither human, daemon, nor magitek soldier, and worst of all... He couldn't even prevent your inevitable... expiration. Of course, you could keep taking your medicine...” Ardyn glanced to the case set down with the rest of Prompto's belongings. Before him, the boy still convulsed, a gurgling noise creeping up his craned throat.
“But, it's really no way for a boy your age to live. It's a shame no one took the proper care.”
By now, Ardyn couldn't abide by the boy's suffering. It was safe to say that he'd hit a chord and this would be enough. He needed the boy alive if he was going to keep Noctis on the right path. Besides, the point of this endeavour was to... put an end to those who suffered the Scourge. Take back the crystal, sit the throne, usher in the dawn.
“It really is a shame,” he repeated, reaching for Prompto. He tipped the boy's head and thumbed below his eye. Black had spilled over into the whites of them, a faint orange glow where his pupils should have been. “That it's come down to this.”
By some miracle, the chancellor brought the boy back down, carding an uncaring hand through his sweat-dampened hair and scoffing. Pathetic little thing. The tragedy would've been endearing, had the Chancellor a heart.
“I'm so... Fuck. I'm so glad you found me.”
Noctis panted, leaning heavily on his father's sword, clutching the hilt and using it as leverage to pull himself up from the ground. Moving forward, he pulled both Ignis and Gladio into a hug, heaving a great sigh of relief. When they parted, however there was silence and a hopelessness settled over the three of them almost instantly.
“I'd have thought for sure either one of us would have found Prompto by now,” Gladio said, since no one else would.
Noctis tightened his jaw, wrenching his sword from the ground and gripping it tightly. “We'll find him,” he assured.
“Indeed,” Ignis remarked. “We shan't take back the crystal unless the four of us are together.”

Re: Fill: Imperial!Prompto/Noctis "Come Around Sundown" 9/?
Date: 2017-02-16 04:32 pm (UTC)“G-Gladio!”
Prompto crumpled to the ground like the defective MT skeletons Noctis had seen littered throughout the keep, but the Shield was there to catch him before he hit the floor. He checked the boy's pulse, then nodded in affirmation, Noctis' stomach dropping with relief as he hurried to his side. The King could hardly wait for Gladio to pull away before he was gathering Prompto up in his arms, placing the boy's head in his lap and pushing summery strands, blotted with black from his face.
Backing off, Gladio described the situation to Ignis, who (ever practical) suggested they find something to help clean his face at least. “It looks like the stuff that comes outta daemons,” Gladio whispered the warning into the advisor's ear so as to not send Noctis into an uproar. Ignis nodded, pondering the thought while the larger man rummaged through the pile of Prompto's personal things. The canteens he found would do nicely, and he grabbed a few potions too, but the locked case baring the Imperial Sigil had him worried. What had Prompto brought along? Where had he been and why would Ardyn bring him here to them?
“I don't like this,” Ignis spoke, as if reading Gladio's mind. “Ardyn's aid... although outweighed by malice still troubles me. He wants us to take the crystal.”
Noctis wasn't listening, but Ignis hadn't expected him to. The King was too busy washing Prompto's face and hair with sterile gauze from the first aid kit and water from the canteen. His hands shook, but when Gladio offered to take over Noctis refused. Both he and Ignis stood back and watched on, worry for their friend still ever present in the air between them.
“You're gonna be okay,” he breathed, words shaking. His chest was tight with both relief and shame. Prompto was safe now, but what had he suffered through? Noctis had dragged him into this, stolen him away under the guise of a benevolent ruler, only to have it backfire. Prompto was important to Noctis, and that made him a target-- the bullseye.
“Nngn...” Prompto groaned like a sleepy teenager who'd refused to get up for school. He stretched his arms until his muscles cried out in painful protest and caused him to open his eyes for real. What he saw made his chest swell with rapid palpitations.
“Y-you came for me?” He squeaked, turning his head slightly, able to just make out Gladio and Ignis' boots, along with the end of his walking stick. “Guys? Noct!?”
He wanted to sit up, but everything hurt and his head was pounding as if someone had taken a hammer to it and swung. Not to mention, the wetness falling onto him; a light shower of Noctis' tears.
“Oh. Oh, no. Noctis,” Prompto gasped, reaching up as the King curled his spine. Noctis was so close now that it was easy to pretend nothing else existed but them. It was like revisiting that strange place in the dark, but this was much more raw, as evident by the clenching of his chest and hitching breath's Noctis took as he sobbed.
“Were you worried about me?” He asked, honestly wondering. What had happened on the train, he knew that it hadn't been Noctis, but he had to hear it from the King himself for it to be a reality. “Tell me.”
“Of course I was,” Noctis practically wailed. If Prompto hadn't been injured, he would have punched him in the arm. “What kind of question is that?”
Everything was soft and sweet for a moment there in the cell. Noctis' lips pressed against his, taking him without any sort of frantic greed. They kissed slowly, tenderly. Before the king pulled away completely he dipped back down to whisper in his ear.
“I love you, Prompto.”
The words were so raw, so honest and foreign that Prompto couldn't even reply. Even as Gladio plucked him from the ground like he weighed nothing and Ignis ordered Noct to shoulder Prompto's pack, while he handled the case; Prompto still stared, gaping at the king.
No one had ever told him that before.
“Uh. Guys,” he croaked, throat aching when he raised his voice, the tears welling up and clogging his sinuses doing nothing to help the predicament. “Can we... Find somewhere to talk? I-- I owe you all an explanation. I-I'm sorry.”

Date: 2017-02-16 04:35 pm (UTC)“Dude, you slept through last period again, didn’t you?” Prompto says, pointing to the dried dribble of saliva that Noctis hasn't yet managed to wipe from his cheek. “We gotta get some caffeine in you or something. Have you tried that coffee shop down on Fourth Avenue? Ahh man, it’s to die for.”
“The coffee or the barista?” Noctis teases, shoving his unopened books back into his bag. He can already hear Ignis sighing about wasting his education from across the city, but Noctis doesn’t care right now.
Prompto squawks, following him out of the classroom. “Hey, I said nothing about a barista!”
“Right,” Noctis drawls, pretending not to see Prompto’s freckles disappear beneath the rising scarlet of his face. Ignis will already be waiting by the schoolyard with the car, but that doesn’t mean they can’t take a detour before heading back to Noctis’ apartment. “You wanna hit it up?”
“What - no - you know me.” Prompto laughs, shoving Noctis playfully. “Awkward idiot who can’t flirt to save his life right here.”
“I meant the shop, but sure, got anything else to tell me about this non-existent barista?”
Prompto’s fish-out-of-water expression never fails to entertain. “Nooooooct.”
Noctis laughs. “You said it, not me.”
“I hate you.”
“Uh-huh.”
“You’re so mean to me.”
“I know,” Noctis says before shoving Prompto into the car.
If Ignis overhead Prompto’s woeful accusations, then he says nothing about it as the teenagers scramble into the back. They exchange their usual pleasantries, Prompto bumbling in Ignis’ presence as always. Considering Prompto doesn’t have a single qualm against bursting into the classroom as though he’s about to break out into song, his shyness is a paradox that Noctis is yet to understand. Noctis is by no means an extraverted individual himself, but he does not present himself as one. On the other hand, Prompto seems both seamlessly anxious and outgoing, even around people like Ignis, who he has conversed with many times.
Noctis likes him though. Prompto is refreshing in his world of royal duties and expectations. Ignis and Gladio seem to appreciate his company as well, once they persuaded Noctis to introduce them properly, at any least. Poor Prompto had looked like a mouse in a trap when Noctis had gathered everybody in his apartment, and that was before Gladio yanked him into a headlock to make friends the only way he knows how - physically, with a lot of hugging and laughing and roughhousing on the living room floor. Despite Gladio being Gladio, Ignis is the one who seems to intimidate Prompto more. Noctis can understand this completely - Gladio may be physically daunting and a little coarse around the edges, but he is a shield in form and name. Ignis is the one to watch out for, the merciless precision of the lance through and through.
Noctis has lucked out with his Weapons - with his friends. He doesn’t have the words to explain how much they mean to him, but he hopes they understand. Prompto, too, has wiggled himself into Noctis’ life with such ease that Noctis looks back on the time without him and feels an absence. It reminds him of that awkward period before partnering with Ignis, before meeting and training with Nyx, and though Noctis can hardly remember a time when Gladio wasn’t at his side, it is like then, too, when Noctis hadn’t even known what he was missing.
The problem is - Noctis doesn’t know if Prompto’s a Weapon, and that makes all the difference.
“Can’t hurt to ask,” Gladio assures, lifting a shopping bag out of the boot of the car and dumping it into Noctis’ arms. “Help me with this lot, would ya? Only Bahamut knows how Iggy needs all this stuff. And if Prompto says no, then that’s that. No harm done.”
“What if he says yes?”
Gladio shoves another bag towards Noctis. “Depends, dunnit? Why d’you want him to?”
“You know why,” Noctis grumbles, accepting his fate as a trolley as Gladio continues to unload the car.
“Surprise me,” the Shield deadpans, a carton of eggs crunching precariously in his grasp.
“No.”
“All right then, so you don’t need me and Iggy to persuade the council - and the King, of course - to allow you to partner with an untrained civilian Weapon with a somewhat questionable background who you’ve known for not even a year.”
Noctis’ mouth opens - and then shuts. “Look -”
Gladio slams the boot shut, dastardly smug with himself.
“That would be great,” Noctis admits, knees wobbling at the expression. He’s so goddamn weak to Gladio’s smile; part of him just wants to keep his gorgeous bodyguard in a glass box and stare at him forever, as weird as that sounds; appreciate his stupid laugh and his stupid face and love him from afar.
Noctis bites back a curse. Words are dumb and feelings are dumber. He wonders if Prompto would even want to bond with a Meister like him.
“Come on dipshit,” Gladio says, nudging the Prince towards the apartment complex. “I ain’t got all day.”
That is news to Noctis, who is under the belief that his Shield does nothing but spend all day, every day fulfilling his duties to the Prince. “You’re not staying for dinner?”
“Nah,” Gladio replies. “Iggy’s in though. I’ve got a date tonight.”
Sheer dumb luck saves Noctis from tripping over the stairs. “You - what? Why?”
“What sort of question is that? ‘Cause she’s cute, obviously. Don’t look at me like that, I’m not gonna skip my duties or anything.”
“You’d never do that,” Noctis blurts, and Gladio says, huh, as though he hadn’t expected Noctis to say that. Noctis can’t imagine why he would think that, which leads him to wonder if he is reading Gladio wrong. However, by the time he thinks to say anything about it, they have delivered the groceries to Ignis and Gladio has ducked out of the apartment again, and the door clicking shut behind him has an awful finality in Noctis’ mind.
“Is something the matter, Your Highness?”
“No,” Noctis says, but that isn’t true. In fact, there are a couple of things bothering him, and at least Ignis can help him with one: “D’you think Prompto’s a Weapon?”
“There is no way of knowing for certain unless you ask,” Ignis replies, shifting through the shopping for the perishables and the frozen items. “But I imagine that’s what Gladio informed you.”
“Pretty much,” Noctis says, flopping onto the sofa so that Ignis can’t see how much he’s hopelessly pining.
“It is sound advice,” Ignis agrees.
Noctis kicks a cushion onto the carpet. “He’s on a date,” he hears himself grumbling.
There is a moment of silence in the kitchen during which the only sound is Noctis’ mind yelling ABORT ABORT! before Ignis shuts the fridge. His reply is careful and yet still a knife in Noctis’ gut: “I fail to see the connection, unless Prompto is also on a date that you don’t approve of?”
“No! And I never - I never said I didn’t approve. It’s not my business anyway. Gladio can do what he likes. Why did he even tell me?”
Noctis stares at the cushion he kicked away in the hopes that it will magic itself back onto the sofa and smother him. Slowly, Ignis resumes putting the shopping away.
“Gladio is both your Shield and one of your Daemon Weapons and thus cannot, in fact, do what he likes. However, he has taken precautions and assured me that he will be contactable at any -”
“I don’t care if I can’t contact him or not - that’s not - ugh - forget it.” Noctis throws himself from the sofa and scoops up his bag, neither stalking nor warping into his bedroom, but moving with such hazardous haste that he could be described as something in between. He doesn’t move from his bed for an hour, praying that the duvet will achieve sentience and either comfort or strangle him until forgetting Ignis’ soft call of concern as Noctis slammed his bedroom door. Ignis doesn’t bother him for a long while, probably busy with his cooking, which means Noctis fumes in silence until there is a tentative knock at his door.
He ignores it - and the second knock, and the third.
“Err, Noct, buddy?” comes a muffled call, and Noctis has shot across the room before Prompto has finished adding: “You in there? Ignis called and - whoa! Hi, okay - hey!”
Noctis drags him inside the bedroom and kicks the door shut again. “I didn’t take Ignis to be such a gossip,” he mutters, feeling a little guilty about the manhandling when Prompto rubs his wrist.
“Eh? About what?” Prompto asks, face creasing in concern. “Dude, you okay?”
“What’s he told you?”
“Err - I think we’re having curry for dinner?” Prompto attempts, flustering at Noctis’ flat look. “I dunno! Is this a bad time? I can leave. He just invited me over for dinner, that’s all, and honestly I’d have to be stupid to turn down his cooking -”
“Oh,” Noctis says, an involuntary sound. Guess Ignis hadn’t ratted him out, and he feels stupid for thinking so badly of his friends. Prompto can’t lie to save his life, so why had Noctis thought he was anything but truthful? “Was that it?”
“Um, yeah? But if something’s wrong then - you wanna talk about it? I can’t promise to give you any advice or anything - or like, good advice, at least, since I never know what I’m talking about, right. Or we can just play video games or something, if you’d rather! I don’t mind. I’m down for anything.”
“King’s Knight?” Noctis suggests, knowing that Prompto will ramble forever if nobody stops him.
Prompto beams. “Sure! I hope you’re ready to get thrashed.”
“By you?” Noctis laughs. “Please.”

Date: 2017-02-16 05:07 pm (UTC)Also imagining what if Drautos uses Cor's help to get better only until he kills him in the very end. He becomes Glauca and says something like 'yes I'm the one who killed your king' and that's the last thing Cor hears.
I yearn for more moments of these two.
