UPDATE 12/30/16: I'm looking for some help! Details here.  (I'm always looking for more pinners; this is an open invitation.)

I've added/clarified some rules to make life easier to my pinners. Please refrain from changing the subject lines except when filling or updating a fill. It makes it easier for us to keep track of what we've already looked at. Thank you so much!

FILL: A Force of Nature, Gladio/Noctis 1/1

(Anonymous) 2016-12-22 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Gladio had been a breath from death the first time Noctis summoned Ramuh. He'd assume that the purple filter in the atmosphere, the sharp ozone scent blanketing the area, had come from the arachnoid beast they'd been fighting. Noctis had stumbled, grabbing his forehead, and Gladio - who always kept the prince on his line of sight - had gathered the last of his strength, ready to rush forward and die protecting liege.

A massive hand appeared in the sky, moving towards Noctis so quickly that Gladio cried out in despair, then the world vanished in scorching lightning. Gladio saw it rip through the demons, frozen on the spot like a rabbit stupefied by a behemoth, wondering why it didn't burn the meat off his bones. In his shock, he almost forgot to despair for Noctis.

Then Noctis had appeared before the massive form of Ramuh, who rose up to the sky higher than Insomnia's tallest skyscraper. The God gazed down at Noctis, who shivered as he stumbled forward. Gladio stared, mouth hanging open, startling when Prompto rushed forward, shouting triumphant promises at any demon that might be lurking in the shadows.

Ramuh's image faded, and Gladio rushed towards Noctis, who nodded at Prompto and Ignis, then quickly searched for Gladio's gaze. Searched for approval, as if Gladio wasn't the one struck dumb by his immense show of power.

"Nice," said Gladio when he reached Noctis. He was overcome with a sudden urge to fall to his knee, but Noctis hated the royal formalities. So Gladio punched his shoulder lightly, and forced a carefree grin.

"I was scared he'd fried you guys too," said Noctis, looking around the scorched field. Not even the husks of ths demons' skeletons remained.

"It seems your power is highly selective," said Ignis. "Luckily for us."

"My power?" Noctis snorted. "As if I could ever do anything like this."

"Dude, you totally did!" Prompto waved his arms around. "I wish I'd taken a pic of Ramuh, but I was busy trying not to pee my pants."

"We'd best look for a Haven," said Ignis. "Something tells me we should not abuse Ramuh's generosity."

Noctis nodded, giving an order with nothing mote than approval.

His step seemed hesistant, so Gladio shortened his strides, then pretended not to notice when Noctis stepped closer and reached for his arm.

Despite his undeniable power, Noctis was still prone to bouts of infantile anxiety. Gladio indulged him more often than even Ignis, and he suspected that Noctis would in close to him during the night. Gladio might not respond to the worldless invitation to cuddle; not because he didn't think Noctis deserved or needed that kind of emotional support, but because he feared that the faint hint of ozone still clinging to Noctis' hair would drive him to distraction.

AN: Short as hell and not particularly kinky, but I did what I could.
