Pretty much what it says on the tin.

It all started with a picture.

It wasn’t a raucous picture by any means, but it was the first time Luna came to realise that Noctis was no longer the young boy she’d known so many years ago. Puberty had been kind to his well-bred features, and the baby fat she’d once found so adorable had given way to a smooth, but angled jawline.

He was devilishly handsome, even in the innocuous graduation photo he’d pasted to the inside of their notebook.

Theirs.

Looking at boys wasn’t a luxury the Oracle had been allowed growing up in such political seclusion, but that didn’t mean the want wasn’t there. It had simply taken the back seat in lieu of her other duties, and although Luna would never admit it aloud, she’d spent an unhealthy amount of time dissecting her fiancé’s features with intentions not entirely innocent.

It took her a few days to reply. She missed him dearly, and the knots in her stomach refused to make the process any easier.

“I can’t wait to see you again, Noctis. We have much to catch up on.” She made sure to add on a photo in kind, the best she could find, and sent Umbra on his way.

“And so much to show each other.” Was the response she’d received in turn, and it was then that things started to change.

The message was as ambiguous as it was teasing, and if not for the picture Luna would have interpreted it as exactly that. But the lazy selfie taken in what was obviously his bed, the bare skin of his surprisingly defined shoulders teasing her with the almost sensual smile on his face left too much to the imagination.

She so desperately wanted to see more.

It was embarrassing, at first. This was Noctis, after all. Innocent, young and inexperienced Noctis, whom she’d known most of their lives.

There was nothing innocent about him anymore, however. Not when their interactions became heavy laden with innuendos and filthy promise, lewd enough that it soon became her catharsis under sweat slicked sheets and spurred even her most sinful of fantasies.

She wanted to see him again so badly. Wanted to know how the hands that handled those pages would handle her, how the mouth that smiled at her through pictures and pages would work to make her scream. She wanted all of him, from the tangle of sweat soaked limbs to the husky tenor of his voice as he whispered filthy things in her ear.

An Oracle should not want this. Should never need this as badly as she did.

The next time Umbra returns she receives the notebook with sweaty palms and trembling fingers, the knot in her throat hard to swallow as she retires to her chambers for the night.

And what a sight it was. She has to swallow back a weak moan at the sight of Noctis sprawled across his sheets, hard abdomen tensed against the leaking head of his swollen cock. Sapphire eyes and long lashes gaze at the lens through mused hair, lips parted in obvious pleasure as he thumbs the tip.

“Is this what you’re thinking about, when I’m not there to fuck you myself?

She’s desperate as she touches herself that night, images of Noctis with his hands in her hair, of her holding onto the headboard as hard as she can while he fucks her like a wild animal. Imagines clutching his biceps as he throbs inside of her, tongue curling around hers as he ruins her. Wants him to rule over her body the way a King should rule a kingdom.

Wants to know what it feels like to have a King come inside her.

Noct doesn't remember what he dreams of, but it's bad enough that he's up before dawn, stumbling outside to get away from the claustrophobic feeling of being in a small room with so many warm bodies. If only Ignis could see me now, Noct thinks to himself, splashing water on his face. It's quiet outside, the only light a warm circle around the lamppost.

He holds a hand out, contemplative, watching the ghost shape of the sword sketch itself into being before it drops solid into his hand.

The swords of past kings, but with power comes a price, and he can feel it even now, slowly draining his life away. He wonders what putting on the ring will feel like, what his father felt, sustaining the shields around Insomnia for so many years.

The sound of the caravan door opening startles him out of his thoughts, and Noct brings the sword up automatically, holding it in place when he sees it's pointed at Ardyn's throat.

To his credit, Ardyn doesn't even flinch. "Up so early, your majesty? How uncharacteristic of you."

"Bad dreams," Noct answers. "What's your excuse?"

Ardyn's expression is serious for once, no hint of a smile or mocking laughter, no hat tucked at a jaunty angle, and Noct's surprised to find him almost...attractive. "In this, Noct, we are much alike."

Noct doesn't have a reply, but he dismisses his sword and takes a step back, conceding the point. Whatever Ardyn's motives are, he's helping them for the time being without having asked for anything in return, and that's more than can be said of the majority of their contacts.

"Perhaps..." Ardyn says now, closing the door softly behind him and making his way down the steps towards Noct. "I could provide the both of us a much needed distraction."

Noct's not sure why he lets it happen as Ardyn reaches out a hand to tilt his face up, why he himself leans in the rest of the way, grabbing at the thick folds of Ardyn's coat as he kisses back this time, opening his mouth for it and not even caring when Ardyn maneuvers him against the caravan and pins him in place, controlling the pace. It feels like a moment outside of time, free of judgment or obligation and the hopes and dreams of all the thousands of people counting on Noct to save them from the Empire.

Ardyn shifts so he can get a hand in between them, working Noct's jeans open and biting him sharply on the lip when Noct bucks his hips, trying to hurry him up.

"Patience, prince," he murmurs, though he's not shy about wrapping long fingers around Noct's cock, stroking just this side of too rough and biting him again when Noct moans loudly, forgetting where they are. It's been awhile since he's had a chance to do this—being on the road with three other guys—and never with anyone else, not when there were always so many people watching his every move.

It's just what he needs right now, though he wonders how the fuck Ardyn knew that. "I'm close," he says instead, letting everything else wash over him for a little while longer.

"At your leisure, your majesty," Ardyn replies, only smirking when Noct works up enough energy to glare at him, and so it takes him off guard when he does come, gasping into Ardyn's mouth. For being such a weird guy, Ardyn is a surprisingly good kisser, and Noct's not too proud to let him take the lead.

It's not until a few minutes later that Noct thinks to ask. "Um, do you—"

"Don't worry yourself over me," Ardyn tells him, that smile again, and any good feeling Noct was having towards him evaporates in a second.

By the time everyone else is up, Noct's washed and dressed again, all traces of ill-advised dalliances erased from his person. He's even gotten sandwiches and chips from the diner and laid them out on the table.

"You're up early," Ignis says, raising both eyebrows, "and you've procured breakfast."

Noct shrugs. "The sooner we can get rid of my headaches, the better."

"Of course," Ignis agrees. But he's still giving Noct a look like he wants to say more and isn't sure if he should. "Just...be careful," he settles on, giving Noct an awkward pat on the shoulder before sitting at the table and choosing a sandwich.

Noct nods, carefully not tonguing at the spot on his lip where Ardyn bit him. He didn't even break skin, but it's as if he left an indelible mark, all the same.

Awww, thank you!! Ardyn's such a weird character for me. I found him really annoying for 90% of the game because every time he showed up it was to inconvenience me somehow (I am so bad at driving the Regalia, askdjfkla. I had to redo his stupid driving sections like 10 times). But then I got to chapter 13, which was a clusterfuck for all sorts of reasons, such as I didn't sign up to play Dead Space, why are you doing this me Squeenix!!!, but was absolute genius for Ardyn just talking at Noct in such an intimate and possessive way. And you just realize, Ardyn's been alive for thousands of years just waiting for Noct to be born, and no matter how much anyone else wants Noct to succeed, Ardyn's the one that wants it the most, and everything he's done is to hone Noct like a weapon.

But in the same vein, I could totally see him fucking with Noct just because it's funny to him, knowing everything that Noct doesn't. So yes, what I wanted to say was that it's really nice to hear that the characterizations ring true for you. ♥ (And I'm sorry for the wordspam sldkfja. I only have one friend who is really into FF games, and they are still on chapter 3 and it's driving me crazy wanting to spoil things for them because skdfjlksaj someone please flail with me about how Ardyn and Noct would have the best hatesex ever. Like probably not in this fic, but I really want to write about them having hatesex during chapter 13, and Noct finding Ardyn's daemon face hot, bc at least it's true, when everything else about Ardyn has been a lie. And no one can tell me that after watching Ardyn stab Luna, Noct wouldn't like to stab him about a million times, and um, this scenario ends in hatesex too, okay.)
