Fill: Ardyn/Cor Vampire AU

Here's something... I'm not entirely sure what I was doing with this.

Cor leaned back into the pillows and thought about what he'd managed to get himself into.

It was so obvious now. Gold eyes, pale skin, cold to the touch far too often... Cor knew he hadn't been imagining it when he'd caught a glimpse of fangs. All this time, he had chosen to ignore the signs right in front of him. Even Ardyn's voice

"I see you haven't left our bed."

Speak of the devil... Cor looked over to where Ardyn was leaning against the doorframe. Seeing the vampire brought nothing but the feeling of betrayal.

"Last night..."

"Last night was necessary."

"You forbade me from leaving your castle," Cor reminded him. "You can't expect me to stay here while-"

"I expect you to value your own life."

Ardyn straightened and strode forward as if he didn't have a care in the world. Knowing his true nature, Cor supposed he didn't.

"My life belongs to King Regis." Cor lifted his head to look Ardyn in the eyes. "I swore to keep him safe."

"That is what his Shield is for, is it not?" Ardyn reached out and his fingers brushed against Cor's cheek for a moment. "I need you here where I know you are safe."

Cor pushed Ardyn's hand away. He was growing tired of the redhead's games.
"What does it matter to you whether I live or die?"

Vampires were masters of manipulation and seduction. Cor was ashamed that he had fallen for Ardyn's lies as long as he had. He should have known better.

"I have grown to care for you. Now, now. There's no need for such an expression."

Ardyn moved closer, leaning over Cor with both hands placed on the bed. This was not a safe place to be, but Cor wasn't stupid enough to try to get out of it. He settled for keeping the glare on his face.

"I've no doubt that you have heard tales of vampires. Masters of manipulation. Seducers." Ardyn smiled with no attempt at hiding his fangs. "If I did not care for you I would have left you to die last night."

"If you loved me the way you claim to, you wouldn't have kept this a secret."

Cor placed a hand against Ardyn's chest, directly over where his heart should have been. Pushing him wasn't the smart thing to do. Cor didn't care.

Unsurprisingly, Ardyn didn't budge. Not even to humor his human lover. Cor didn't know if he should even call himself that.

"Is there a reason you came to see me?"

"I had hoped we could talk but you don't seem in the mood."

Ardyn sighed heavily and moved away again. He didn't linger long; golden gaze sweeping over Cor before he turned away and walked to the door.

"When you're prepared to be reasonable, come and find me."
