Every time Noctis uses his magic, he draws from a built up reserve of magic inside himself. When that reserve of magic gets low he get more and more lethargic until he eventually falls into a magically induced coma and has to sleep for about a month to recharge.
It can be set during cannon or an AU where Noctis is king, but I want the chocobros protecting and taking care of Noctis and his responsibilities while he is asleep.
