I was thinking about it some more and realized it'd probably end in them getting married or something. Because Regis can't take it anymore and tells Noct to grow up and find himself a wife because he's bringing shame to their whole family line carrying on like this, and Noct is like FUCK YOU I'LL MARRY ARDYN THEN. And then storms out of the audience chamber to where everyone is waiting outside because Regis delayed a council meeting for this. And Noct is like, "hey we're getting married" to Ardyn who totally nonplussed answers something like, "aww, are you finally making an honest man of me," and Noct is like as if.
And maybe Noct was actually planning to call it off bc it's not like he actually wants to get married to Ardyn or even thought about wtf was coming out of his mouth??? But then basically everyone in the entire world takes him aside and tells him what a bad decision he's making and how he's going to regret it for the rest of his life and Noct needs to marry Ardyn now just to prove them all wrong.
