I am so glad you're still enjoying this! Basil was initially going to be a minor fairy godfather type of character, and then my brain went, "No, he must be a Dad," and here we are.
I am SO EXCITED about writing the ball scene, you have no idea. And admittedly, ever since I saw Ever After as a kid, I've been unable to shake the idea that Cinderella stories should always involve masquerades at some point.
