Young Gladio is named after a flower, he likes to read, he hangs out with girls more than guys, and he has all these private tutors and training schedules that set him apart from other kids his age. He hasn't yet figured out how to charm the pants off people yet, and as a result he's bullied pretty heavily for being "soft" and "girly."

He tries to keep quiet about it, because he doesn't want his dad to see him as weak, but one day Noct and Ignis find out. They form a tiny Gladio Defense Squad. No one dares try to get through the prince to get at Gladio, and Ignis makes up ridiculous (but still strangely believable) fake laws regarding what happens to people who harass a king's shield.
