When Prompto is assaulted by one the Kings Glaive he doesn't know where to turn. His parents don't care about his wellbeing, and he's too embarrassed to tell his friends about the attack.

Prompto suffers in silence for many weeks before he finally breaks down and writes King Regis a letter. Regis had recently taken a liking to Prompto, and frequently asked the blond to attend dinner with him and Noctis. Outside of his three friends, Regis is the only person whom he trusts. The pain of the assault is growing too difficult to bear and he is desperate for comfort.

When Regis receives the letter detailing the blond's attack. He immediately sends for Prompto. When the blond arrives in the greeting room, Regis pulls him into an embrace. Prompto is so relieved at being comforted that he collapses against the man and sobs louder than he ever had before.

Regis comforts Prompto for many hours. He holds the blond to his chest as they relax on a couch, feeds him some dinner, and dries his tears when Prompto cries on and off. Unable to let the blond go, Regis takes Prompto to his room where they sleep cuddled together.

After that night, Prompto visits Regis every evening for comfort. Soon, the platonic relationship grows into a romantic one.
